"I grew up in Oak Flats which is one and a half hours south of Sydney. I still live in the same suburb. Sport has always been a big part of my life. I grew up playing field hockey and was lucky enough to be selected to play Indoor Hockey for Australia. Unfortunately I had a car accident when I was 21 and my left leg had to be amputated. I was introduced to wheelchair basketball in 2003 as a 23 year old and instantly fell in love with the sport.
After trying Wheelchair Basketball I realized it was everything I missed when playing Hockey. Every player needs to contribute and work as a team for a positive outcome. Wheelchair Basketball also includes all people with differing disabilities and with the classification system everyone has a opportunity to play. I've travelled the world many times, lived in Spain for 3 years, it's given me lifelong friends. The sport has given me a life that I probably would not have had if not introduced to it.
I've been married for 10 years and have two sons 9 and 5. My kids are now starting to find their own passions and I love watching them try and achieve those."
